Summary:

Jigen has a headache. Goemon washes his hair for him.

Goemon prowled through the main room of the safehouse and stopped. Jigen was sprawled along the couch with his hat over his eyes, which was normal, but he also had the back of his arm pressed across his face over his hat, which was... less normal.

"Jigen?" Goemon asked simply.

Jigen grunted. He didn't sound happy. "Headache."

Goemon nodded, though from the way the wiry forearm angled over the hat brim, Jigen probably had his eyes pressed shut against the pain. Jigen was prone to headaches at this safehouse -- something about the ambient noises, the changing air pressure, the angle of the sofa arms, they'd never really figured out what.

“Could you stand and shower with me?” Goemon asked. It wasn’t the way he preferred to bathe, but he wanted to comfort the man. He wanted to make him relax and ease his burden.

Jigen shifted a bit, his mouth twisting into a grimace at the movement, but sat up, setting aside his hat. "Appreciate it." He held out his hand, silently offering to let Goemon help him up. The fine lines around his eyes and mouth looked more deeply etched than usual.

Goemon gripped his hand and pulled him up. “Relax. I have you.”

Jigen leaned close against him for a moment, nestling his head against Goemon's shoulder, rubbing at the side of his skull with one hand. "Yeah. Thanks." He slid his free arm around Goemon's waist. "C'mon, then."

Goemon huffed and smiled. He helped Jigen to the bathroom and started the water, letting it run.

Jigen leaned against the sink, not making a move to get undressed. "Might let you do the work, if you don't mind."

Goemon set Zantetsuken safely in the corner, then gently undressed Jigen, pressing soft kisses into his skin. He laid the clothes aside and carefully set Jigen's gun by the sink, making sure with a glance that Jigen was comfortable with the way it was placed.

Once Jigen was undressed, Goemon shed his own robes and undid his fundoshi. He tested the water and made it very comfortable. “Shall we?”

Jigen shuffled into the shower and promptly stuck his head under the warm water, leaning his palms on the wall. He grunted inarticulately again.

“I have you,” Goemon repeated. He stood behind Jigen and started working his fingers through his partner's thick hair, letting the water soak in. Jigen's hair was fluffy enough that it required a different technique than Goemon's fine straight hair. "You're so good," Goemon murmured as he worked, rubbing little circles over Jigen's scalp from the back of his neck upward, trying to help ease the tension he felt under his fingers.

Jigen dropped his chin against his chest, letting Goemon take care of him, swiping at his nose occasionally to keep from sneezing as the warm water ran down his face. Goemon combed his fingers gently through Jigen's hair, making sure the water had soaked it fully, then reached for the shampoo. "A little better?"

"Nrgh," Jigen complained, tilting his head and poking hard with two fingers at one of the muscles a little way behind his ear, just below the base of his skull.

"Occipital muscles," Goemon said half to himself. "Eyestrain. Of course." All three of them were reasonably expert in human anatomy, but Jigen's focus was mostly on the best places to shoot, stab, or punch people, while Lupin knew absolutely everything that related to escape artistry. Goemon sometimes felt he was the only one who actually paid attention to health as well as work-related matters. Setting the shampoo back down for now, he dug his thumbs into the offending muscles and started rubbing tiny, firm circles into them. "You need to help me stretch these, Jigen. Move your eyes for me. Back and forth, up and down."

Jigen grumbled wordlessly, but did as he was told. Goemon could feel the slight twitches of the muscles as Jigen obediently rolled his eyes.

“Good work. Just a little longer,” Goemon told him. “Then let them rest.”

"Don't know what I'd do without you," Jigen muttered, following instructions. He shifted and crossed his forearms against the shower wall, leaning his head forward on them.

Goemon picked up the shampoo again and started washing Jigen's hair gently, working in sections to make sure it all got clean. "You would both be a filthy mess without me," he stated as if it was obvious.

Jigen chuckled. “You're not wrong. Thanks, man.”

"Time to rinse," Goemon said, guiding Jigen to lean back under the water again.

Jigen tipped his head back, eyes squinched shut, and let Goemon gently swish the water through his thick hair, making sure it was well rinsed. "You have nice hands," he said.

“I do,” Goemon agreed. “Good thing I enjoy using them on you.”

Jigen snickered a little. "Later."

"Certainly," Goemon said. "Turn around. I'll wash your beard."

Jigen turned around and leaned back against the wall of the shower, smiling fondly at Goemon. "You spoil me."

“You deserve nothing less,” Goemon told him. He took the shampoo and lathered it into Jigen's wiry beard, scrubbing gently.

Jigen yawned suddenly. "Oops. 'Scuse me."

Goemon smiled down at him. "Are you feeling better?"

Jigen squinched his face up again and stuck it under the water, running his fingers through his beard to make sure all the suds got rinsed out. "Much," he said, ducking out of the water again. "Little sleepy is all. 'D you want to scrub the rest of me or should I just hurry and do it so we can cuddle?"

"You feel better. That's all I wanted," Goemon said. "Hurry and wash up."

Jigen took the soap and scrubbed himself efficiently, then rinsed off. "Remind me to retu--oof!" He yawned again, startling himself. "Return the favor sometime. Your hair is really nice to wash."

“Thank you,” Goemon said. “We need to get out of the shower and dry you off.”

Jigen turned off the water and stretched, grinning. "I'm all yours."

Goemon swiped the droplets off their bodies quickly, then helped Jigen out of the shower and took a fluffy towel from the wall. He dried Jigen's hair and beard, carefully squeezing most of the water from the thick mop, then with a fresh towel he dried Jigen off, caressing the man. “Let’s go to bed,” he told him.

Jigen looked up at him, mischief dancing in his dark eyes. "Carry me?"

“Easily,” Goemon told him. There was an instant's pause while the two men collected their weapons, then Goemon easily lifted Jigen into a bridal carry and walked with him to Jigen's bed. It was a western-style bed, but he would endure. He laid Jigen down, set Zantetsuken by the bed, then lay down himself. "I have the covers."

Jigen laid his Magnum carefully aside on the bedside table, then cuddled up to Goemon, who carefully tucked them both in. "Sleep now, Jigen," he murmured softly. "I am here."

Jigen slipped one arm across Goemon's chest and rested his still-damp head on Goemon's shoulder. "G'night."

Goemon looked upon him indulgently and kissed his hair, holding him close.
